Activities for Attendees

  • Baseball: To purchase Washington Nationals baseball game tickets, visit Select your game of choice, enter code DDW18 to save 17–20 percent on tickets.
  • Taking Steps to Save Lives 5K Run/Walk: Hosted by the Esophageal Cancer Action Network (ECAN), this multi-charity 5K Run/Walk will take place on June 3, 2018, at Bluemont Park in Arlington, VA. Buses leave the convention center at 7:15 a.m. and return by 11 a.m. Light refreshments will be served on board before the 5K and a full breakfast will be served after. If interested, register online.

Travel Arrangements

DC's location makes it easy to get to fast. Three DC-area airports service 69 million passengers each year.

  • Airports: three DC-area airports — Ronald Reagan National Airport (DCA), Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) and Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) — with approximately 1,000 direct daily flights make DC accessible to the world.
  • Airport Shuttle Information: SuperShuttle is offering DDW attendees a discount on airport shuttle services. Click here to book (using code UQ8FT) to receive $2 off one-way/$5 off round trip van/shuttle services and $5 off one-way/$10 off round trip ExecuCar services.
    • On Tuesday, June 5 from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., DDW's shuttle bus partner, Production Transport, will be offering shuttle service from the convention center to Dulles International Airport. Tickets can be purchased at the shuttle bus desk for $35 per person. Shuttles will depart on the hour and half hour. 
  • Train: Union Station in DC is home to Amtrak and multiple commuter rail services; 5 million Amtrak passengers travel through DC each year.
  • Ground Transportation: taxis are plentiful and easy-to-hail downtown and at the airports, and offer a convenient way to get around the city. Sample taxi fare between Ronald Reagan National Airport (DCA) to Walter E. Washington Convention Center is $19-25.
  • Shuttle Bus Service: Complimentary shuttle service is provided between the convention center and most DDW hotels. View the shuttle map here.
    • Shuttle Schedule: Saturday, June 2–Tuesday, June 5, 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Peak service is every 10-15 minutes. Off-peak service is every 30 minutes. Peak: 6 to 10:30 a.m. and 3 to 6:30 p.m. Off-peak: 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Parking: Use ParkWhiz to book a discounted parking space ahead of time, and save yourself the hassle and stress of finding parking at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. 

For U.S. residents: please review the Real ID Act regarding boarding federally regulated commercial aircrafts. Depending on your state of residence, you may need to provide a second form of identification at the airport.
