DDW Basic Science Travel Awards

DDW is no longer accepting applications for the Basic Science Travel Award. Applicants were notified by email in late March. To see a list of the 2017 winners, please visit the DDW Blog.

DDW awarded up to 20 Basic Science Travel Awards for the 2017 meeting. Selected authors of basic science abstracts received a $1,000 travel grant and will be recognized at a reception during DDW.

Candidates for the award had to be listed as the first or presenting author of a basic science abstract accepted for presentation at DDW 2017. Additionally, candidates needed to be currently enrolled or within three years of completing their training programs. Residents and fellows were eligible to be considered for the award and were also encouraged to apply. Candidates were not required to be a member of any of the four sponsoring societies.

Requirements

The following materials are required as part of the application:

  • Accepted DDW 2017 abstract that lists the applicant as the first or presenting author. (Authors applying for this award must have submitted an abstract by the Dec. 2, 2016, general deadline. Authors of late-breaking abstract submissions are are not eligible for this award.)
  • Current CV/resume.
  • Letter of intent describing the applicant’s role in the research presented in the abstract, his or her interest in attending and presenting at DDW, and his or her plans for future research.
  • Letter of support from a faculty sponsor summarizing the candidate’s attributes and the impact DDW attendance will have upon the candidate's research and career.
